Adjustment Bureau

Ok, so I have been going to every movie in theaters that one can possibly go to, I just haven't been writing. This movie inspired me to write again, and yes it was a good inspiration.  I went to this movie thinking that it was going to be a mind twister (such as Inception), but in my opinion it was clear with its message.  I usually don't associate movies with having a "message," because their purpose is to sell tickets but this one was starring me right in the face.  If you have been living in a cave, the movie is about a politician who goes off of his beaten path to pursue a love interest.  He comes to find that there is a group of angel like individuals who make sure everyone sticks to their fate.  I related to this movie by my move to Austin, TX, which was "On A Whim" (had to tie in the title).  The message I took from this movie, really put a positive light in my current state of mind.  I have been unsure of my decisions over the last year and Adjustment Bureau reassured me that no one has a written path in life, individuals are allowed to make free will decisions.

I highly recommend this movie, it was entertaining and a very positive movie for those who are unsure with what is happening in their life (if you need the boost) or just looking for a great movie to go out and see.

GREAT MOVIE!

Movie Blurb: The Rite

Anthony Hopkins plays Father Lucas Trevant, a priest who has put on thousands of exorcisms.  He is approached by actor Colin O'Donoghue who plays Michael Kovak, a student of the priesthood who is unsure of his path and faith in life.  When Father Lucas (Hopkins) tries to teach Michael (O'Donoghue) about the exorcisms, he becomes even more reluctant of the faith and the right intensions of Father Lucas.

Hopkins' character is creepy and I was on the edge of my seat each time he was in the scene.  This movie doesn't have the greatest cast and they make due and keep you entertained with what they put together.  This movie is thrilling and had me jumpy the entire time.  I wasn't expecting much from this movie and was pleasantly surprised with the story and how they put it together.  There were times that the movie had some corny humor thrown in and it downgraded the film in my opinion.  For movie directors out there pick one or the other and go with it.  The only film that I half enjoyed that combined the horror thiller type with comedy was Drag Me to Hell.

Johnny's Take:  This is a good film to go see in theaters to get the whole effect of the jumpy thriller type but go see it as a matinee don't pay the full movie price for this one.

Johnny's Movie Blurb: The Mechanic

As the movie started I couldn't help but think, "Jason Statham has never done a unique performance."  Think about it Transporter (1,2,3), Crank, Death Race, The Italian Job, its all the same character.  A hard nosed criminal type who hurts people and whispers as he talks.

The Mechanic started no different.  He once again plays a tough guy who is under contract to kill people.  As the movie plays on you can predict everything that is going to happen and could almost recite the next scene before it even plays.

This movie keeps you entertained as he movies in the past do, but it is nothing impressive at all.  The only parts of the movie I enjoyed watching were when Mini Aden, who played a prostitute, was on screen and the end where the only part of the movie you had to think twice about was.  So if you are thinking of going to see this movie in theaters...don't!

Johnny's Take: Wait for a night where you have nothing to do and don't pay more than the $1 to rent it on Redbox.

How I got to Austin

Well, I have been in Austin for about 3 months now and love Austin as a city.  There is a ton to do here in Austin, concerts, restaurants, clubs, and parks, just to name a few.  I am currently working as a Booking Agent for Cevallos Booking and love it.  It is something I could see myself doing for awhile.  I also work as a Server at a restaurant in the Hilton Austin called Liberty Tavern.  I like the money that comes with serving but I need to get out of that industry, it wears on me and is something I just need to get out of for me to feel accomplished and on my way to do what I want.  I miss my family and friends in Washington and Montana very much, if I had the opportunity to go back with a job opportunity that I want, I would jump at it.  I am currently and continuously looking for a bigger and better job opportunity in Austin and throughout the country.  I am not tied down to anything here in Austin, nor anywhere in the country.  Its hard for me not being just a day drive away from friends and family and need some support every once in awhile from them.  I hope to continuously post on this blog so that I continue to grow as a writer, and as a person.
